“Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground.” ~ Oscar Wilde
Designed around Francis Weller’s Five Gates of Grief, this is an intimate, sacred and reflective workshop which will assist participants in beginning, or enhancing, their healing process. Each participant is provided with Francis Weller’s book: The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief which we will reference throughout the workshop.
The core of this workshop is based around the following words by Francis Weller:
“Bringing grief and death out of the shadows is our spiritual responsibility, our sacred duty. By doing so, we may be able to feel our desire for life once again and remember who we are, where we belong, and what is sacred.”
“We have forgotten the primary language of grief. As a consequence, the terrain of sorrow has become unfamiliar and estranged, leaving us confused, frightened, and lost when grief comes near.”
“For the most part, grief is not a problem to be solved, not a condition to be medicated, but a deep encounter with an essential experience of being human.”
“We must restore the healing ground of grief. We must find the courage, once again, to walk its wild edge.”
Although this could easily be classified as a workshop to guide you on a spiritual journey, there is no religious basis to the workshop. All beliefs and backgrounds are welcome and each person’s own spiritual beliefs enhance the workshop as a whole. Come as you are. Grief may be an individual journey, but it is a human experience which will touch us all regardless of gender, race, religion, socio-economic status, or sexuality. And grief comes in all forms. We don't just grieve death. We grieve many different types of loss. If you are grieving, and you are open to self-reflection, this workshop is for you. Those are the only requirements.
This is a 7 hour workshop and runs from 9am - 5pm (with a one hour break for lunch on your own at 12:30pm).
