Childbirth does not have to be a scary experience. With thirteen years of childbirth education experience, I offer unique and FUN childbirth classes which address the societal challenges facing families in the United States.
I am an International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) certified childbirth and postnatal educator. I currently offer private childbirth classes in my warm, inviting office in downtown Tacoma. All of my classes are unique and assist individuals and couples with facing the fear of childbirth head-on and developing techniques to reduce this fear through the understanding of the childbirth process. I believe laughter eases just about any uncomfortable emotion so there is a lot of laughter in my classes. These are not dry classes! They are fun and entertaining AND being packed full of good information!
My classes are eclectic in nature and are appropriate for people having babies at home, in out-of-hospital birth centers, or in the hospital. I teach about birth and its process and how the brain and life stories affect the process. That particular message is applicable to anywhere a family chooses to give birth. And because the classes are private, they can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
I also teach several unique supplemental classes:
* A very unique Breastfeeding class which focuses on how breastfeeding works, why it seems to cause so much trouble these days, and how to avoid those pitfalls.
* A Postpartum class called Life After Baby which I designed myself and have been teaching locally for twelve years. I am one of just two ICEA certified postnatal educators in Washington State and have a strong passion for the postpartum period. This class is raw and entertaining at the same time and helps individuals and couples design a plan for how they intend to handle the ups and downs of the postpartum period and how they can be sure to take care of themselves and their relationships.
* A one-of-a-kind Grandparents Class which focuses on providing 21st century information on childbirth, breastfeeding, newborns and postpartum, but also discusses this monumental life transition and how to honor this stage in life.
